Course Description

This 3-hour interactive course explores how Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy can be used with a culturally responsive lens to support women of color experiencing trauma. Participants will learn how systemic oppression, cultural narratives, and personal trauma intersect and leave with trauma-informed strategies rooted in self-compassion, IFS, and social work values.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

Apply IFS concepts (parts work, self-energy) in trauma treatment for women of color
Recognize how cultural burdens and stereotypes impact client care
Integrate social work ethics into culturally responsive trauma care
Identify and reflect on practitioner parts and internal bias through experiential exercises
